WHAT IS DRENCHSMART?
DrenchSmart is now avaliable for both Cattle and Sheep
DrenchSmart is a faecal egg count reduction test service that assesses drench efficacy on a property by identifying how many parasites are present before treatment (Day One FEC Test Results) and measuring them against how many parasites are present after treatment (Day Ten FEC for sheep, and Day Fourteen FEC for cattle Test Results). For a drench active to be regarded as effective it must kill 98% of the parasites present.
WHY DO A DRENCHSMART?
- To remove the guesswork – know what drenches work on your property
- To ensure the longevity of drenches on your property by protecting the drugs that work – slow the development of resistance
- To assist with the development of effective quarantine protocols
- To assist with increasing performance on your property
- To assist with improving profitability within your operation
- To utilise as part of farm manager contracts or lease agreements
- To assist with property valuation
The optimal time of the year to undertake DrenchSmart, depending on climate conditions, for sheep is during the spring through to autumn period and for cattle is during Autumn as this is when parasite challenges are often at their highest.
The DrenchSmart service is best performed on young animals (<1 year) as FEC levels are likely to be higher and worm species more varied due to a less developed immune system.
WHAT DO YOU GET?
